In one of the movie trailers, Kidman expresses how extremely proud she is to present Baz Luhrmann's mind-blowing new movie Australia. As expected the direction of the film reminds us classic Baz Luhrmann with his amazing attention to detail while Catherine Martin's art direction oozes the theatrics of the couple's previous hits Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet.
It's also great to see the supporting cast reads like a who's who of Australian actors including Bryan Brown, Jack Thompson, David Wenham, Barry Otto, Bill Hunter and John Jarrett.
The romantic action-adventure is set in northern Australia prior to World War II, about an English aristocrat (Kidman) who inherits an outback property the size of Belgium. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver (Jackman) to move 2000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land — only to face the bombing of Darwin by Japanese forces.
"The trailer presents all the elements of a truly epic movie, in the hands of one of the world's most visionary directors and two of the world's biggest movie stars," said Marcos Oliveira, managing director of 20th Century Fox Australia.
Recently the US TV show queen Oprah Winfrey also gave Baz Luhrmann a ringing endorsement by saying "Congratulations on your imagination, your vision, your creativity your direction. Our hearts are all swelling because, my god, it's just the film we needed to see." This is something that Oprah does not do too often so she must have been truly impressed by Baz's amazing talent.
So if you are looking for some great entertainment for this festive season, you should definitely go and see this amazing epic movie and experience Australia.
